Rainville announces new run for house

LINCOLN Barbara Rainville, a lifelong resident of the Lincoln, has announced her bid for the Vermont State House district that includes Bristol, Lincoln, Monkton and Starksboro. This will be the Republicans second attempt to win the seat in a district heavily dominated by Democrats. She ran in 2006 falling short of the two incumbents. Rainville, holds a B.S. degree in elementary education and history from Russell Sage College, and a M.S. degree in urban and environmental studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She has been a part of a family business, Maple Landmark, since 1994 where she is working as its marketing manager. Rainville has served, and continues to serve, on several local, organizational boards of directors including the Addison County Sugarmakers Association, where she is currently secretary/treasurer, and the St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church Finance Committee. Rainville serves at the auditor for the Town of Lincoln as well as the chairwoman on the Lincoln Zoning Board of Adjustment. She also serves on the Vermont Attractions and the Vermont State Chamber of Commerce boards. Rainvilles plans to campaign on the issue of long-term affordability. We have some hard issues, like our decaying infrastructure, high energy costs, and education finance, that need to be addressed long term, she said. Vermonters are in a tough position. We cant afford to keep going on the path that we are on.
