INDIAN LAKE Things will be heating up in Indian Lake next month during WinterFest with the Third Annual Jalapeno Eating Contest at Martys Chili Nights. Defending 2007 champion Arthur Sabourin and runner-up Jamie Mitchell will be on hand to battle for the title along with up to eight other challengers. Each participant will have one minute to down as many pickled jalapeno peppers as they can. The winner will receive a trophy and a gift certificate for two dinners at Chili Nights. The runner-up will receive a gift certificate for one free dinner. The names of both the winner and the runner-up will earn a place on the house trophy. The contest, which is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, will feature the following rules: 1. The event is limited to 10 contestants. Call 648-5832 to register. 2. One minute timed eating. 3. Whole pickled jalapenos will be used. 4. Only one jalapeno may be eaten at a time. 5. Stems within 1/4 inch of that end need not be consumed. 6. Un-swallowed jalapenos do not count in the tally. 7. All contestants will start and finish with their hands on the table in front of them. 8. Jalapenos will be served in bowls of 10 each. 9.
