On the road with ACTR

In December 2006 Addison County Transit Resources (ACTR) and Marble Valley Regional Transit District (MVRTD) launched collaborative regional bus service to connect Middlebury and Rutland along the Route 7 corridor. One year later, according to ACTR officials, ridership has surpassed expectations. We knew there was a need along this corridor, but proceeded with realistic expectations, said Ellen Atkinson, community outreach coordinator for MVRTD. Ridership on the Connector is growing by the week and we continue to hear from riders that this service is really helping them out. The growth in ridership has been amazing, said Jim Moulton, executive director of ACTR. In its first month of service the Connector carried 304 passengers. One year later we provided 730 rides in one month and it continues to grow. According to ACTR and MVRTD bus drivers, the numbers include many regulars who commute between Rutland and Burlington in both directions..
