Leicester seeks mowing bids, new officers

Mowing bid proposals for Brookside Cemetery, the Town Green, and the roadsides in town are due to the Town Office by Friday, Jan. 24, at 1 p.m. Bids will be opened at 7 p.m., at the Jan. 28 meeting of the Leicester Selectboard. Specifications, proposal forms and details are available at the Leicester Town Office. Work on the town budget in preparation for Town Meeting will continue each Monday evening in January. Numerous positions in town government are open and candidates are being sought to fill positions, such as selectboard for 2 and 3 year terms, tax collector, lister, auditor, Leicester School director 2 and 3 year terms, and OV director for 2 and 3 year terms, town agent, grand juror, and constable. Connie Carrol, longtime OV representative, has announced that she is not seeking reelection. Donna Pidgeon has announced that, after almost 19 years, she will not seek another term as town clerk or treasurer, so those positions are open as well. Petitions are available at the town office and require at least eight signatures of registered voters, by 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28. To get an article on the Warning, 5% of the voters, approximately 40 signatures, are needed on a petition, to be handed in by 1 p.m on Thursday, Jan. 24. Last day to register to vote for Town Meeting is noon on Feb. 27.
