Neat Repeats

To the Editor: When I opened the envelope from Neat Repeats and looked at the check I was so delighted that all sorts of ideas and plans immediately filled my head. My letter to them had explained that now that the Burnham Committee, with the help of many, many grants, has completed the Handicap Access work and the renovations needed on Burnham Hall's groundfloor because of the disastrous '98 flood, it was time to think about the upstairs performance space which needs a sound system, lighting and acoustical improvements. As there is presently no real sound system, we'll start with that. In the past year or so we have held some benefit performances by some generous musicians to help start raising the funds required, and the Merchants Bank has made a nice donation, but this $1,000 check from Neat Repeats has put the possibility of moving ahead right on the Front Burner. We will be able to order the two speakers and mixer soon, but we will also need microphones, cables and stands to be ready for the first musician or band to help us get the Burnham Series up and running again. Perhaps some Lincoln folks would like to jump on the Donation Bandwagon and send some dollars towards those mikes, cables and stands. Mark Mulqueen has found all the best equipment at the best prices for us, and is donating his professional expertise as well. But above all, please remember to support Neat Repeats, who so generously help so many worthy causes in Addison County, by your donations of good clean clothing, shoes, jewelry, linens, small kitchen utensils, etc. and, of course, by shopping there.
