Holiday program contributes to charities

TICONDEROGA Stewarts Shops Holiday Match program completed its 21st year of collecting donations for local childrens charities. The company has announced another record year with customers contributing over $610,000. Stewarts Shops is matching that amount, for a total of over $1.2 million to be distributed to hundreds of local childrens charitable organizations in early 2008. The Holiday Match program relies on customers making contributions in any of the 325 Stewarts Shops located in upstate New York and western Vermont from Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Day. This years amount represents an increase of 4 percent over last years total. Our customers continue to impress us with their giving, commented Susan Dake, Stewarts Foundation president. The fact that donations have increased this year is overwhelming when you consider the tremendous increase in everyones everyday costs. This years success can be attributed to our nicer customers, nicer shop partners, and the hard work of our media partners. The Holiday Match program benefits childrens organizations directly within the communities where Stewarts Shops are located. There are no administrative costs and 100 percent of the funds collected and matched benefit the communities that have made this program so successful. After this years funds are distributed, over $11 million will have been allocated since the programs inception in 1986. Our Holiday Match program is just another testament to our theme, We are Closer to You, added Dake. We are closer to our communities and closer to the people within those communities. Childrens charities can still apply for funding from the Holiday Match Program. Applications are available in all Stewarts Shops or online at www.stewartsshops.com . Applications need to be postmarked by January 31, 2008.
