Holiday decorating contest winners announced

CHAZY We didnt even know there was a contest, exclaimed Ralph and Marie Souza, after learning their home won first place in the residential category in the 2007 Chazy Christmas Decorating Contest. The couple won $100 donated by Riverside Insurance Agency. The Souzas have been decorating their Sarachon Road home for the holidays since moving back to the area from Florida three years ago. Their home was recognized for several special touches, including the handmade caroling snowmen, which flanked their driveway. Mr. Souza cut out the wooden patterns with a jigsaw and Mrs. Souza painted them all by hand, giving them their unique personalities. The couple started making the snowmen in July so they would have enough to give to all 10 of their children as Christmas presents. Theres going to be a lot more next year, announced Mr. Souza. Im on a mission now. Dale and Sara Lee Gadway, Ketchum Bridge Road, West Chazy, took home second place in the residential category, taking home $25 donated by D & D Meats; and Ricky and Robert Thompson, State Route 22, Sciota, took home third place and $25 donated by Samples Lawn and Garden. Robert and Constance Rabideau, State Route 22, Sciota, won in the category of Best Christmas Tree, earning $25 donated by The Chazy Homestead Restaurant. Friendly Flee Market, Fiske Road, West Chazy, won $75 donated by Gumas Restaurant for Best Decorated Business.
