Wildcats topple Moriah

Ethan Tyrrell had a big game to lead Schroon Lake past Moriah, 51-44, in non-league boys basketball play Jan. 4. Tyrrell scored 25 points, 16 in the second half as the Wildcats rallied from a 22-13 deficit to win. Trailing by nine points, Schroon went on a 19-12 spurt to open the second half and closed the game on a 19-10 run. Hayden Whalen tallied 20 points for Moriah Schroon Lake 67, Keene 38 Kyle Bush led Schroon Lake past Keene, 67-38, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball action Jan. 3. Bush scored 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Wildcats, who raced to a 23-13 lead after one period and led 38-18 at the intermission. Casey Jarrell had 12 points and Ethan Tyrrell added 10 for Schroon. Westport 55, Crown Point 39 Westport beat Crown Point, 55-39, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball action Jan. 3. Crown Point played a strong first half, leading 20-19 at the break. Westport took the lead with a 15-7 run to open the second half and pulled away in the final quarter. Sam Muroff had eight points for the Panthers. Ticonderoga 54, NAC 39 Ticonderoga topped Northern Adirondack, 54-39, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Jan. 3. Tied 19-19 at the half, Ti opened the third period with a 17-8 run as Hunter Denno and Jake Taylor combined for 15 points. John Molina then scored all 10 of his points in the final period as the Sentinels pulled away for the win. Denno finished with 18 points and Taylor with 11. Keene 52, Crown Point 51 Keene rallied in the final quarter to edge Crown Point, 52-51, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball action Jan. 7. The game was tight throughout, but Crown Point held a three-point lead late in the contest before the Beavers came back. John Budwick had 15 points for the Panthers. Moriah 56, Seton 45 Moriah jumped to an early lead and beat Seton Catholic, 56-45, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Jan. 8. Hayden Whalen scored 13 points, JIm Carlson 12 and Tyler Blaise 10 for the Vikings. Ticonderoga 72, Lake Placid 20 Ticonderoga routed Lake Placid, 72-20, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Jan. 8. Ti raced to a 15-4 lead and was on top, 41-5 , at the half,. Jesse Clark scored 18 points, 14 in the first half, to pace the Sentinels. Hunter Denno added 16 points and Matt Streeter 12 for Ti.
