Town looks at reviving newsletter

JOHNSBURG Moments after be sworn in as town supervisor, Sterling Goodspeed proposed reviving the town newsletter to enhance communication between elected officials and residents. Goodspeed made the proposal at the Jan. 3 meeting of the Town Board and said the idea is to supplement the good work being done by the local newspaper. Goodspeed said he envisioned a two-page newsletter, perhaps in conjunction with Johnsburg Jottings. He said he envisions a newsletter that would be distributed as a hard-copy as well as being available on the town website. Goodspeed estimated the cost of doing the newsletter at about $1,100 and said the money could be found. Weve looked at it and by moving some money around, we have found the money without the need to appropriate more funding, Goodspeed said. The newsletter would focus not only on the work of town government but would provide information about town happenings and events, he said. The proposal was well-received by those attending the meeting. Thats a good idea, said town resident Joel Beaudin. Theres a need for that.
