The birth of Isaac Robert Ames was celebrated on Dec. 23, 2007 by his parents, 2nd Lt. Jonathan Ames of the Marine Corps and his wife, Dewan. Grandparents are Bob and Sandy Ames and Great Grandparents are Harold and Alice (deceased) Ames. Some of our older residents will remember Harold and Alice Ames. They lived up on Dartmouth Rd. and Harold wrote a Stony Creek Column for the Warrensburg/Lake George News years ago. Painting classes
The Town of Stony Creek announces upcoming classes in Donna Dewberry's style of One Stroke Painting. Youth classes for ages 9 to 14 and Adult classes for ages 15 and up will be held each Wednesday, starting Jan. 23 through March 5. Paint and brushes and two projects are included in the six week progressive course. Class size is limited and pre-registration is required by Jan. 21. The fee is $2 per class for Stony Creek residents and $5 per class for out of town residents. Youth classes are 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and adult classes are 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Classes will be at the Stony Creek town hall. Contact Ronda at 696-3575 for pre-registration and information. Youth activities in the Stony Creek Town Hall basement has reopened and is scheduled for Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m., with new youth director, Tonya Springer. Library news
If you are interested in serving on the Stony Creek Free Library Board of Trustees, please stop in the library during business hours to pick up an application. Library hours are Monday and Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Please call 696-5911 with any questions you may have. The Stony Creek Library now has wireless internet access available. Patrons may use their own laptops to access the internet at the library. Transfer station
The transfer station and recycling center is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and closed Monday and Tuesday. Van available
A van is available the first Wednesday and the third Monday of the month for Stony Creek residents over 60 to go to appointments and do your shopping. Contact Anita Braman at 696-2397 for more information.
