Eberhard H. Werschky

HAGUE Eberhard H. Werschky, 81, of Hague, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2008, after a short illness, at the home of his daughter, Rosemarie Reginbald and her husband Ralph in Ticonderoga. Born in Grunau, Germany, on December 13, 1926, he was the son of the late Martin and Ella (Ruelke) Wershky of Germany. Mr. Werschky immigrated to the United States in 1952. He married Emma (Schaaf) Werschky in 1954. They lived in Texas and then Connecticut for many years. He and his wife retired to Hague, NY in 1990, moving from New Britain, CT. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an Industrial Machine Builder for New Britain Machine of New Britain, CT for many years. He was a member of the Austrian Donau Singing Society in New Britain, CT, a member of the German American Club of Glens Falls, the Senior Citizens Club of Hague, and also drove for Meals on Wheels for several years in Hague. He was named Hague Senior Citizen of the Year in 2003. Mr. Werschky was well known and will be missed by the Hague community and all who knew and loved him. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 50 years, Emma Werschky on December 10, 2004. He was also pre-deceased by his only brother, Walter Werschky of Germany, and two brothers-in-law, Joseph Schaaf and Ovide Albert, both of Connecticut. Survivors include four children, Robert Werschky and his wife, Linda of New Britain, CT, Katherine Werschky of Peru, NY, Rosemarie Reginbald and her husband, Ralph of Ticonderoga, and Mark Werschky of Ticonderoga; two grandsons, Philip Werschky of New Britain, CT and David Werschky of Salt Lake City, Utah; and three sisters-in-law, Emilie Albert, Olivia Czpaski and her husband, Joseph, and Bernice Schaaf, all of Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He is also survived by his cat, Charlie. Relatives and friends called Thursday, January 10th, from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, January 11th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. William G. Muench, Pastor officiated. The Rite of Committal will take place at the family plot of the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga.
