Works by SUNY Plattsburgh alum to be on display

PLATTSBURGH An exhibition of paintings by Brooklyn native Monique Ford will be on display at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home, 8 Bushey Boulevard, beginning Saturday, Jan. 12. The exhibition will open with a reception from 5:30-7 p.m. and will be open to visitors Monday through Friday, 2-5 p.m., through the month of March. The display is part of Art at Evergreen, a program designed and created by Norte Maar for Collaborative Projects in the Arts, Rouses Point, in collaboration with Evergreen Valley Nursing Home and Hassett Adult Day Services. Monique Ford was born in Brooklyn on July1, 1981. At the age of six, her family moved to Katonah, an hour outside the city, in Westchester County. Ms. Ford was known for being a highly creative and athletic child who later attended the State University of New York at Plattsburgh where her passion for painting began, along with her strong interest in teaching. Ms. Ford finished her bachelors degree in fine arts at Plattsburgh, where she created a thesis body of work in painting, drawing, and photography before attending the Pratt Institute.
