Knights deliver holiday cheer

TICONDEROGA The Ticonderoga Knights of Columbus Council #333 distributed fruit baskets Dec. 22. Each year the Knights gather to distribute fruit baskets to widows of deceased members as well as member who themselves have taken ill. This annual event is something that both recipients and those who deliver them have come to look forward to. It gives members a chance to say hello to many folks they havent seen in a while and with any luck an invite to stay a few minutes. Many are welcomed with home baked cookies or fudge. This event also gives newcomers a chance to learn and appreciate the history of both the local K of C organization and the folks that grew up in the area. Although most deliveries are in the village of Ticonderoga there is always one crew assigned to Crown Point, Mineville, Witherbee and Port Henry. This year the council delivered 80 fruit baskets followed by hot turkey sandwiches and fries at the council hall served by Grand Knight John Lenhart.
