Flying Pig co-owner to ham it up at Higher Ground

SHELBURNE Josie Leavitt, co-owner of the Flying Pig Bookstore, will be performing at Higher Ground in South Burlington on Saturday, January 12, at 8:30 p.m. as part of Vermonts premiere (and only) female stand-up comedy show. The Vermont Comedy Divas started their act three years ago and have earned the right to perform in the ballroom at Higher Ground. The acclaimed group consists of Martha Tormey, Sally Stevens and Mary Ann Gatos. Past performances have sold out quickly, so get your tickets early. Leavitt moved to Vermont from Manhattan nine years ago, where she performed her stand-up routines at comedy hot spots like Carolines, the Comic Strip, The Comedy Cellar and Stand-Up NY. In 1993, she received recognition as Funniest West Sider. Tickets are $12 in advance and $14 day of show. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the seated show starts at 8:30 p.m. The show is for a dults 18 years and older only.
