Rouses Point man sentenced for forgery charges

PLATTSBURGH An attorney who formerly practiced in Clinton County was sentenced in Clinton County Court on charges of forgery. In a press release from Clinton County District Attorney Andrew J. Wylie, the district attorney stated Justin Herzog, 33, Rouses Point, was sentenced by the Hon. Kevin K. Ryan to three years probation Feb. 25 in relation his conviction on two counts of third-degree forgery. He was further ordered to pay $15,000 in restitution and a $165 surcharge. Herzog was originally arrested Jan. 30, 2007, charged with two counts of second-degree forgery. According to District Attorney Wylie's statement, Herzog forged a client's name on two documents for loans against a settlement that the client would receive. Herzog received two payments of $7,500 and did not provide the monies to his client, the release stated. The case was investigated by the Plattsburgh Police Department.
