Experts continue probe of Grove Street fire

RUTLANDOn Feb. 21 the Rutland City Fire and Police personnel responded to a reported structure fire at 84 Grove St. within the City of Rutland. Upon arrival crews encountered heavy smoke and fire conditions on the second floor of the multi unit apartment dwelling. All occupants of the residence were out of the building at this time and there were no reported injuries. Damage to the building was significant and is estimated to be in excess of $125,000. A request was subsequently made to the Vermont State Police to conduct an investigation into the origin and cause of this fire. Det. Sgt. Cruise of the VSP and Fire Investigator Boyd of the Division of Fire Safety responded to the scene and met with officials from the Rutland City Fire Department. After an investigation of the scene the origin and cause of the fire remains undetermined. The investigation is continuing into this fire.
