Iwo Jima recalled

To the Times of Ti: In the swirling shower of current events, pages of our history are sometimes not turned by ourselves or the media by oversight or intent. In said response, I wish on behalf of all those who had fought and died and those who have suffered in body and mind in the invasion of Iwo Jima and the battle fought by the Marines 3rd, 4th and 5th divisions of Iwo Jima Feb. 19, 1945. The price paid was very high; victory is never cheap as we still know. Approximately 7,000 Marines killed, 20,000 wounded and 22,000 Japanese killed on Iwo Jima, an island 3x5 miles, in 28 days of fighting. Now turn that page to Feb. 19, 2008. Remember it well and perhaps say a prayer. Its the least that can be done for those who did the most for what had to be done. Raymond Tolar
