Dairy cattle behavior, management focus of meeting

CHAZY The relationship between dairy cattle behavior, on-farm management strategies, and optimal feed intake will be the focus of a workshop for dairy farm mangers sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension and William H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute. Dairy cattle specialists Dr. Rick Grant and Dr. Steve Mooney will be featured speakers at the Clinton County workshop Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Miner Institute auditorium, 1034 Miner Farm Road, from 10:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.. Workshops are also planned to be held in Franklin and St. Lawrence counties. The workshop will feature a review of topics in the morning followed by a lunch and an afternoon tour to a local farm. The farm tour will take an in-depth look at cattle behavior, facilities and feed management practices. There is $5 per person fee to register for this meeting to cover the cost of lunch and materials. To register, or inquire about this workshop, call the CCE office at 561-7450.
