Colleen Kelly Bancroft

BARRE TOWN Colleen Kelly Bancroft, 50, of Sugarwoods Road, died unexpectedly Sunday February 17, 2008, at Fletcher Allen Health care in Burlington with her family at her bedside. Born June 15, 1957, in Troy, New York, she was the daughter of Francis E. and Carol Ann (Foley) Kelly. She graduated from Glens Falls, New York High School in 1975. She received her Associates Degree in Science from North Country Community College in Saranac Lake, NY, and was a registered nurse. She held a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and her Masters Degree in Education, both from the College of St. Joseph in Rutland. Holding a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in School Administration from Castleton State College, she was a Doctoral Candidate in Educational Leadership at the University of Vermont in Burlington. In 2001 she was voted the Outstanding Vermont Teachers Award. She was currently Director of Student Services of the Caledonia North Supervisory Union in Lyndonville and was also a Charge Nurse of the inpatient Psychiatry Department at the Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin and will be remembered as a passionate caregiver to her family, her patients, her colleagues and all the children in her school district. She was first married to Steve Arzberger, making their home in Ticonderoga, NY. They later divorced. On July 6, 2006, she married Ernest H. Skip Bancroft Jr., in St. Monica Church in Barre. They have since made their home at their present address. Rock climbing, her pets, horse back riding, gardening, snowboarding, the Mozart Festival and Irish music were her special interests. Her memberships include St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre and the Council for Exceptional Children and the Vermont Council on Special Education Administrators. Besides her husband, Skip she is survived by her two sons; Eric Arzberger and his wife, Meaghan of Kennebunk, ME; and Justin Arzberger, and two stepsons, Ernest H. Buddy Bancroft IV and Michael Bancroft and two stepdaughters, Erin and Katherine Bancroft, all at home; also her parents; Francis E. and Carol Ann Kelly and her brother Kevin Kelly and his wife, Tina, all of Queensbury, NY and her sister, Kathy Keenahan and her husband, Ken of Rochester, NY; also her stepfather-in-law, Ernest H. Bancroft Sr. of Barre Town; and two stepsisters-in-law, Deborah Bancroft Balserus of Williston and Mary Ellen Natusch and her husband, Paul of Westford, MA and nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, February 21, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. Burial will be made in the Hope Cemetery in Barre.
