Anne E. Crowley, 88, died February 14, 2008 at Horace Nye Nursing Home in Elizabethtown, N.Y. She was born November 24, 1919 in Lake Placid (North Elba), NY, the daughter of John P. and Helena (ODriscoll) Crowley. Anne was a graduate of Lake Placid High School, class of 1936. She then attended the University of Michigan graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Social Services, class of 1941. She also attended McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, graduating with a Masters Degree in Social Services. She was employed at the Essex County, NY Department of Social Services in Elizabethtown and SUNY Potsdam in their Department of Social Services until she retired at age 65. She returned to her home in Elizabethtown until she became a resident of Horace Nye Nursing Home March 17, 1997. She was predeceased by her parents, one brother John (Jack) Crowley, one sister Mary Cermak and nephews John T. Crowley and James W. Metcalf. She is survived by one sister Jane C. Metcalfe, nephews L. Richard Metcalfe, John P. Metcalfe, Sarah M. Findlay, Anne C. Mancuso, Kathlyn C. Smith, Frank Cermak, John Cermak and Helene C. Gray. A memorial mass will be held in the spring.
