Police deal with thefts, alcohol, marijuana

From the Middlebury Police Dept. log: Jan. 26, 2008 Middlebury College Health Center requested assistance with Conrad Olson of MC/Middlebury who was intoxicated and not complying with center rules. Officer took Olson into custody. MPD and Vermont State Police responded to a large group of partying college students making a disturbance. Officers smelled marijuana coming a vehicle. The vehicle was seized although the owner was not located. A male stated that he was the boyfriend of the vehicles owner; he admitted the contraband was his. A search of the vehicle revealed 20.4 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Kevin Mark Drake of Leeds, Maine, was cited. Jan. 25 MPD stopped a vehicle for speeding on College Street. Zoe Rogers Victor, born 1987, of MC/Middlebury had consumed alcohol under the age of 21. An alcohol breath-test revealed a content of .110 percent. The operator passed her standard field sobriety exercise and was issued a citation for three violations. MPD arrested a man identified as Christopher Root, born 1953, at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel on an active arrest warrant. A male, identified as Chandler Koglmeier of Cincinnati, Ohio, who was urinating on a porch behind 40 College St. He was issued a Vermont municipal citation. Jan. 24 Porter Hospital officials reported a strange homeless male was sleeping outside the hospital for two nights. MPD arrested a Roy Ashley on a warrant. Jan. 23 A Middlebury man reported his unlocked truck was entered and a watch and cash were taken. A motor vehicle driven by Donald Arthur Stuart, born 1986, of Fairfield, Conn., made a u-turn on College Street. A warning was issued. Stuarts passenger, Zachary Gordon Devore, age 19, of MC/Middlebury was given a personal breath test. His breath alcohol content was .045% A civil violation for a minor consuming alcohol was issued. A MUHS student reported that his truck had been entered at his residence. Allegedly, a PS-2 controller and a snowbrush were taken. Another student stated that about 30 vehicles had been targeted that night and snowbrushes were taken. An individual at Middlebury College reported a theft of an Apple iPod device. Jan. 22 The Middlebury College Dept. of Public Safety reported Roy Ashley was in the college library looking at pornography on a computer and acting inappropriately toward other library users. MCDPS had Ashley leave the grounds and then reported the incident to the MPD. College authorities requested that Ashley be issued a no trespass order. A Middlebury resident reported that her son was receiving threatening electronic text messages on his Apple iPod. MUHS personnel reported receiving crank telephone calls from what is believed to be a young male. This was the second call within two weeks from the same person. The crank calls were placed during late-night hours. Jan. 21 An unlocked vehicle parked on Sugarwood Court was entered. Owners stereo and prescription sunglasses were taken.
