Midd. tavern opens new performance stage, lounge

Owners of Two Brothers Tavern in Middlebury announced the opening of a new live music venue, called Two Brothers Tavern Lounge and Stage. The nee stage and entertainment facility is located beneath Two Brothers Tavern on Main Street. The space was occupied by Angelas Pub which closed in 2007. According to a news statement released by tavern proprietor Holmes Jacobs, extensive renovations were made in the new lounge and stage space. Its an utter transformation, he said. Renovations include a crescent-shaped mahogany wood bar, wood-paneled walls, a concrete floor with bamboo inlays, updated restrooms, large-screen TVs, a new pool table and a lounge section complete with sofas and coffee tables. The result is at once contemporary and classic. While Angelas had a faithful following, it was a small percentage of the population, according to the Two Brothers news announcement. Our vision was to create a welcoming space where patrons of all ages and from all walks of life could gather to dance, listen to music or just lounge with friends. Middlebury needed a place where it felt comfortable doing that. We think weve succeeded. We are very proud of how it turned out. Two Brothers Lounge and Stage will be the most sophisticated lounge/stage facility in Addison County. We plan to feature everything from jazz and rock to DJs and karaoke. Weve already been in touch with many performers who frequently play at venues such as Red Square and Nectars in Burlington, to deliver the diversity of the Burlington music scene to the Middlebury audience, said Megan Brady, the taverns entertainment coordinator. The new downstairs lounge features a full-bar and dining offering a limited version of the Two Brothers menu, including burgers, sandwiches, salads and small plates. The two spaces share a kitchen, a staff and the Two Brothers name. It is important to us to let people know that they will be getting the same level of service, selection and quality that they have come to love at Two Brothers Tavern. The new space will offer things that Two Brothers Tavern does not have room for, such as dancing and pool. We consider the two spaces as compliments to each other, not competitors, said Brady. Two Brothers Tavern Lounge and Stage is located on the lower level of 86 Main St. in Middlebury. Hours of operation are 5 p.m-2 a.m. seven days a week.
