Cindy Farbaniec and Pete Hanley received the most votes in this years election of Trustees. They will each serve the five-year terms. Joe Mammola and Kathy Donohue tied for third place, and a runoff election was scheduled. Prior to the runoff, Joe Mammola declined to take part and Kathy Donohue became the third new trustee. She will serve a three-year term. That term is the remaining years of Joe Mastrianni's term, who passed away last November. Library Readers Club
Library Readers Club for March 10 is Vanishing Act by Jodi Picoult. With Vanishing Act, Jodi Picoult explores how life, as we know it, might not turn out the way we imagined; how the people we've loved and trusted can suddenly change before our very eyes; and how the memory we thought had vanished could return as a threat. Once again, Picoult handles an astonishing and timely topic with understanding, insight, and compassion. Copies of Vanishing Act are available at the Bolton Library. Town Offices Closed Feb 19 20
Town personnel have been authorized to attend special meetings from Feb. 17 through Feb. 20, so their particular town offices will be closed several days this week. Pam Kenyon, Kate Persons and Mitzi Nittmann from the Zoning Department and Patricia Steele and Penny Cleavland from the Town Clerks office and Kathleen Simmes, Supervisor will be away. Both offices will be closed February 19 & 20. Residents and anyone having business with these offices should be aware of the closures. Rec Center/School Closed
Happenings Rec Center in the Town Hall will be closed during the week of Feb. 17 through 23. BCS will also be closed that week to allow the students to enjoy the mid-winter vacation. School resumes on Mon. Feb 25 and the Rec Center reopens on Wednesday, Feb 27. Fishing Derby set for Feb. 23
The Bolton Classic Ice Fishing Derby will be held in Veterans Memorial Park just north of the village on Route 9N from 5:30 am - 3:45 pm on Feb. 23. The Bolton Landing Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club of Glens Falls will be sponsoring the event. Four categories of fish: Lake Trout, Landlocked Salmon, Northern Pike and perch. Three prizes will be awarded in each category. Money raised is earmarked to benefit projects of Bolton Landing Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club of Glens Falls NY. For further information and entry forms call Karl Klein at 518-743-1116 . The entry fees are $20 for adults and $5 for children. Folk Dancers to Perform
The Tamburitzan Folk Dancers will perform at the Wood Theater in Glens Falls on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. This acclaimed group of 32 college students performs to Eastern European music and tours across the US each year. The show is sponsored by the Sembrich Opera Museum to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of N. Y. Metropolitan Opera Diva Marcella Sembrich, who was born in Poland, and summered in Bolton Landing from 1922 to 1935. Mme. Sembrich's Teaching Studio has been open as a museum each summer since 1937.
