New Business Opens
Crazy Creek General Store and Luncheonette opened on Monday, Jan. 14. This new business will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and will also be opening a bakery in the near future. The tentative hours are Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. and Sundays 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Take-outs are available and they will also deliver. The phone number is 623-9830. Bring the family out to eat and meet your new neighbors. The store is located at the corner of Stony Creek Road and Cameron Road in the town of Thurman. From Warrensburg take Route 418 which brings you on to Stony Creek Road. Get out and Vote
All Democrats and Republicans can come out and vote on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at the town hall from noon to 9 p.m. There will be two voting machines set up, one for each party to chose who they want to be on the November ballot for president. Your vote is important. Help is needed today, Feb. 2 from 1 to 4 p.m. to make valentines for vets at the town hall. Please stop by and lend a hand! Materials are furnished. The volunteer fire company meets on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at the Athol firehouse at 7 p.m. Visitors or those wishing to join are welcome to stop by. The gleaning food program will be at the town hall on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 11 a.m. This free food program is open to all Thurman residents. The free bus service for residents age 60 or over will pick you up at your home and take you all to Glens Falls for shopping or appointments. Give Laura a call by Wednesday evening at 623-9281 to reserve your seat for the Friday, Feb. 8 trip. The 24-hour toll free phone line for animal control is 1-877-457-5680. A local number for our dog warden is not yet available. The extra helpings food program is available for $14 per month for a box of food items. Thurmans newly elected town clerk, Cynthia Hyde, has set new office hours to be in the town hall office. Please make a note of these for future reference. Mondays 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch hour 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. will be taken on Monday and Tuesday only. The office phone is 623-4588. The Mommy and Me Group meets at the youth building on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. All moms and preschoolers are invited to stop by and moms can help the little ones make a Valentine picture frame. Three generators are to be installed. A motion was passed to get two 10kw and one 7kw at a cost of $14,000, installed. They will be in the EMS Building, the town hall and firehouse, to be used in emergency situations. No fuel oil bids came in from the Nov. 21 legal ad. Thurman will receive $30,000 in occupancy tax money from Warren County. Correspondence from Ed Binder came in applying for the open assessor seat. Jennifer Turner and Christopher White of Whitehall are the parents of a baby boy born on Monday, Jan. 7 weighing 7 lbs, 11 ozs and 20 inches long. The little man born at the Glens Falls Hospital at 12:01 p.m. has been named Alexander Robert. Proud grandparents are Tracy Battease of Whitehall and Richard Turner of Athol, Tina Rozell and Carl White of Whitehall. Do you have the big tin containers that popcorn comes in that you are willing to part with?
