Student named to NCAA All-Northern soccer team

BURLINGTON - Connor Tobin, senior mechanical engineering student in the University of Vermont's College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences, and member of the UVM's Honors College has been named for the second straight season to an all-region team. The 2008 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Men's Soccer All-Northeast Region Second Team announced Tobin was selected to the all-region teams Dec. 12.

The NSCAA All-Region honor is one of several for Tobin who has been also selected to the America East Men's Soccer All-Academic Team for the third year in a row for the 2007 Northeast Region made up of men's soccer programs in the America East, Ivy League as well as 10 Big East schools.

As the 2008 America East Defender of the Year, he was named to the America East All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive season, as well as the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Men's Soccer Academic All-America First Team.

Tobin is one of 11 America East men's soccer players on the three all-region teams for 2008, and is the first Catamount be named to the America East All-Championship Team three times as the team reached the semifinals of the conference tournament for the third straight year.
