CHESTERTOWN - The North Warren Rotary Student of the Month for November is Kyle McKenzie. Kyle lives with Joann Paulson and Roger Gibbs of Chestertown.
Kyle is an outstanding leader who is fun, positive, responsible, enthusiastic, and kind. North Warren is a better place because of Kyle. He has volunteered countless hours to the school, working to improve the audio/visual capabilities for our auditorium, as well as making many improvements to the sound booth.
Also, he has made himself available for technical assistance during performances and programs and has personally trained others on the equipment. He was technical director of the musical "Annie" last year, and this year was the first to conduct the 100-person chorus at the recent concert, receiving rave reviews.
Kyle has been a member of National Honor Society since 10th grade. He as also participated in Student Council for three years and was Class President in 9th grade. Throughout his high school career, Kyle has received numerous awards for leadership, good character, and academics.
One of Kyle's most notable accomplishments was earning his Eagle Scout Award. He was required to do a project that would benefit the community and chose to renovate the American Legion Hall in Chestertown. He was responsible for every phase of the project from the initial plan, to coordinating the staff and materials, to time management.
The project included renovating the lobby and setting up a museum that shows the community what the American Legion is about. Kyle has also worked at the Henderson Scout Reservation for the last three years, teaching classes, and has been Quarter Master of his Boy Scout troop for several years.
Kyle is extremely conscientious and takes everything he does seriously while maintaining his wonderful sense of humor. He makes people happy with his positive, humorous, and kind personality. Kyle's determination and perseverance are an inspiration to all. He plans to pursue studies for Broadcasting or Technical Work with Theater.
