A tale to remember

NORTH RIVER - Seventeen year old Mark Rumble Jr. of Lake George is an avid outdoorsman. He loves to ice fish.

This year he decided to try his hand at hunting. He engaged the help of his grandfather (Papa) Fletcher Colon Sr. for pointers on hunting. Mark asked his Papa to go with him.

Fletcher asked Mark's Great Uncle Nick if he would join them. Two generations that had never been hunting together, called for a lot of picture taking.

Uncle Nick was glad to be their guide in the North River area.

A number of days went by without success. Many tired feet came dragging home. But there was no giving up.

One weekend while in the North River area, Mark spied the buck. Papa had also seen him. He watched Mark take a good look first then aimed and fired. Mark had shot his first buck which was an 8-pointer.

The adrenaline was flowing pretty strong with excitement. Papa and Uncle Nick were almost as excited as Mark. A lot of "high fives" and congratulations.

Uncle Nick gave Mark some pointers on how to dress out the deer the right way. This was a brand new experience for Mark.

Thanks to Aunt Dorie for the good hot lunches.

This is one of those first experiences that only come once in a lifetime. Mark will always enjoy it to the fullest.
