Local artwork celebrates the season

In 1999, Deborah founded Partners In Adventure, a camp for teens with disabilities. She has directed the camp for the last eight years.

Mitzi Valentine Goward, is a graduate Interior Architect and Designer and worked in that capacity before coming to Vermont in 1967. She studied watercolor painting at the Chinese Institute of New York City and later studied oil painting with Frank Spradling, noted illustrator and colorist.Her fascination with "atmosphere" has led her to use color to express form and light, rather than duplicate an object. She enjoys painting the Vermont scene as well as the rugged coast of Maine in its ever changing moods.

She has exhibited regularly in juried shows in New England and the New York metropolitan area. Her numerous awards have included Best in Show in Oils and a First Prize in Graphics. She was president of the Vermont Chapter of the American Artists Professional League and is a Director of the renowned Hudson Valley Art Association, Inc.

The Luxton-Jones Gallery is located at 5955 Shelburne Rd. in Shelburne, across from the Shelburne Museum entrance.

Holiday gallery hours are Tuesday-Sunday noon to 6 p.m. and by appointment, 985-8223.
