Korda is U.S. "Woman of the Year in Antiques"

ORWELL - An Orwell antiques dealer has been named Woman of the Year in Antiques by the National Association of Professional and Executive Women. Joan A. Korda, owner of Brookside Antiques in Orwell was selected nationally among thousands of candidates.

Korda was chosen based on her outstanding accomplishments, leadership and community service. She will represent the industry in the association's Women of Excellence registry.

Korda has 25 years of experience in the antiques trade. As owner of Brookside, she handles all business operations. Her shop specializes in international items of the 17th-19th century from furniture to folk art.

Korda studied art history at the University of Michigan and UCLA. She is active in several arts and community organizations including the Orwell Fortnightly Club.
