Court sentences

ELIZABETHTOWN - The following sentencings, furnished by the Essex County District Attorney's office, were recorded during the month of November.

James A. Brown, 44, Keeseville, was found guilty of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony. He was sentenced to seven years in prison, with an additional five years of post-release supervision, surcharges and fees, DNA sample, and a six month revokation of driver's license.

Donald R. Handy, 50, Ticonderoga, was found guilty of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony. He was sentenced to seven years in prison with an additional five years of post-release supervision, restitution, forfeiture of property, surcharges and fees, DNA sample, and a six month revokation of driver's license.

James M. Agnew, Jr., 20, Elizabethtown, was found guilty sexual abuse in the first degree, a class D violent felony. He was sentenced to three years in prison with an additional five years of post-relase supervision, surcharges and fees, and DNA sample.

Jeffrey S. Davey, 40, Lewis, was found guilty of misdemeanor DWI. He was sentenced to three years probation, surcharges and fees, and a six month revokation of driver's license.

Robert E. Whitney, Jr., 38, Lake Placid, was found guilty of attempted assault in the third degree, a class B misdemeanor. He was sentenced to one year probation, surcharges and fees, and compliance with a two-year order of protection.

Gary P. Barber, 37, Ticonderoga, was found guilty of attempted ciminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, a class E felony. He was sentenced to one-and-a-half to three years in prison, surcharges and fees.
