Christmas Bazaar supported by community shoppers

MINERVA - It was a spectacular entrance for Santa Claus.

Riding in with Minerva Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad president Keith Dubay on the Department's Engine 494, Santa's arrival at Minerva Central School for the annual Dec. 5 Christmas Bazaar was a thrilling sight on a cold and snowy night. Huge crowds came into the school to check out about 15 different community organizations as they set up at tables throughout the MCS gymnasium to sell crafts, cookies, raffles and an assortment of other great Christmas items. The MCS Class of 2011 offered a scrumptious dinner in the cafeteria throughout much of the evening while Sabrina LaPointe's 7th grade guitar class provided fine Christmas song entertainment in the MCS lobby.

Sandy LaBar, chair of the Christmas Bazaar Committee this year and one of the Minerva Baptist Church Women (who coordinated the event), deemed the event "a success, once the evening really started to roll."

The line of kids to see Santa Claus was impressive, and there was a distinctly festive air in the gymnasium. Thanks for the great evening go to everyone who participated, and an especially big thank you to the staff at Minerva Central School for offering up the space and facilities.

It was a great event, and truly helped to kick off the Christmas season.
