Big Band era to come alive at Town Hall Theater

MIDDLEBURY - The holidays are upon us and that means the sixth annual Big Band Christmas Ball is on its way.

The popular event has always been held in Bridport, but this year it's moving to the big dance floor at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater Saturday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m.

On the bandstand will be the Joe Levesque Big Band, a swinging 18-piece ensemble. The band is well-known as the house band for the Sunday night big band cruises on the Spirit of Ethan Allen.

Keyboard player and lead vocalist for the Burlington-based group is Annette Franklin, host and organizer of the event. Refreshments will be available.

Tickets are $15, and $5 for children 12 and under. They may be purchased by calling 802-382-9222, or by visiting the Town Hall Theater box office (Monday-Sunday, noon-5 p.m.) Tickets may also be purchased on-line at www.townhalltheater.org or at the door if available.

"People love dancing on our big hardwood floor," said THT Executive Eirector Douglas Anderson. "Add a swinging band with a big sound and I think you have the perfect holiday event."
