Ticonderoga took an early lead and held on to defeat Moriah, 50-41, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball action Dec. 12.

The Sentinels streaked to an 11-0 advantage, although Moriah ran off 10 straight points to make it a game after one quarter. Ti led all the way, but could never shake the pesky Vikings.

John Molina scored 12 points for the Sentinels, including six in the final quarter as Ti kept Moriah at bay.

Nathan Gilbo tallied 13 points for Moriah, which was within three points with two minutes to play.

Schroon Lake 67, ELCS 53

Ethan Tyrrell led Schroon Lake past Elizabethtown-Lewis, 67-53, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Dec. 9.

Tyrrell scored 36 points, pulled down 10 rebounds, dished out four assists and made four steals for the Wildcats.

The game was tied, 30-30, at half, but Tyrrell scored 14 points in the third period as Schroon pulled away.

Wesley Beers added 10 points for the 'Cats.

Johnsburg 51, Crown Point 37

Crown Point fell to Johnsburg, 51-37, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Dec. 9.

Johnsburg closed the first half with a 130-2 run to take control of the contest.

John Budwick tallied 23 points for the Panthers.

Moriah 66, Lake Placid 24

Moriah crushed Lake Placid, 66-24, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball action Dec. 9.

The Vikings raced to a 27-1 lead and never looked back.

Hayden Whalen scored 13 points and Tyler Trombley 11 for the winners.

Every Moriah player scored in the game.

Ticonderoga 71, NAC 35

Ticonderoga ripped Northern Adirondack, 71-35, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball action Dec. 10.

The Sentinels took 17-7 lead in the first quarter and stretched the margin to 33-16 at the half.

John Molina tallied 17 points for Ti. Josh Demarais and Jesse Clark each had 13 for the winners.

Schroon Lake 51, Willsboro 48

Schroon Lake downed Willsboro, 51-48, in overtime in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Dec. 11.

Schroon held a five point lead with a minute left in regulation, but couldn't hold off Willsboro.

Once in OT, Ethan Tyrrell and Brennan Bush six free throws for the victory.

Tyrrell scored 22 points and Bush 18 for the Wildcats.
