Arts Council plans "Messiah Community Sing"

TUPPER LAKE - The well-loved "Messiah Community Sing" will return to Tupper Lake Sunday, Dec. 14 at 4:30 p.m. This year, the event will take place at Holy Name Catholic Church (114 Main Street in Tupper Lake) for the first time.

This popular "participatory concert" circulates around the Tri-Lakes, returning to Tupper Lake each third year. As usual, the event will be followed by refreshments and an opportunity to meet singers and musicians.

The "Messiah Community Sing" will feature the stellar voices of six talented area soloists along with Kathy Cross, organist; Clair Touby, choral conductor; and the musicians of the Tri-Lakes Community Orchestra. The orchestra, managed by Dorit Gaedtke, includes professional and amateur players, and is the only area outlet for playing music in a large group setting for anyone interested.

The audience is invited to listen and enjoy or to participate in the chorus. Anyone who would like to join the chorus is encouraged to do so. A rehearsal for the chorus is tentatively scheduled for immediately before the concert.

Although the event is free for the public, the Tupper Lake Arts Council always appreciates donations to support its many events.
