Festival of Trees' includes live auction

RUTLAND - Bruce Bouchard, director of the Paramount Theatre, announced last week that Sixth Annual Festival of Trees will kick off the holiday season on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the downtown theater.

The event has two key components: the acquisition and decoration of trees by companies and individuals in the community. A panel of judges votes on the ten top trees based on artistic quality and imagination.

The Vermont trees are then added to the live auction, the culmination of the evening's events.

Doors for the celebration open at 6 p.m. and the first hour is devoted to socializing, cash-bar and light hors'dourves as the audience enjoys the work of the following decorators: Ryan, Shortle, Reynolds and Sabotka, Vermont Country Store, Central Vermont Property Valuations, Velco, The Kenosh Family, Laurie Mecier, Soto State Farm Insurance, Omya, Giancola Construction, Wal Mart, Kenlan, Schwiebert, Facey and Goss, Knight Kitchens, Keith Sports II, and others.

The auction, managed by local auctioneer Bob Prozzo, features dozens of valuable items including paintings by local artists, vacation getaways (seven days in Las Vegas, a Florida condo, a Cape Cod week, and more), two sets of Celtic tickets, plus transportation, greens fees, multiple season ski passes, numerous donated professional services and more.

The evening is sponsored by Foley Services, Inc. and O'Brien Shortle Reynolds, and Sabotka.
