ELIZABETHTOWN - Denton Publications has always been committed to the communities it reaches. This holiday season is no different.
For the fourth year in a row, Denton Publications employees collected donations for the Families First Annual Holiday food drive.
The non-perishable food is used to assemble Thanksgiving meals, complete with all the traditional fixings; turkey, stuffing, gravy, vegetables, and even pie for dessert.
Along with several boxes full of food items, Denpubs also donated a check for $20 to help with purchasing other items for the Thanksgiving baskets.
Anne Griffin, development director for Families First, said the agency collected enough food to distribute roughly 60 Thanksgiving baskets to families in need.
"We have been pleasantly surprised that, in this economy, people are still willing to donate," said Griffin. "We're very thankful to Denton Publications. It's great to have community organizations and business working to help people."
"We have really seen an increase in the number of requests from our food shelf," Griffin added. "The demand is high."
In addition to the food drive, Denpubs has also been preparing to contribute to Families First's boxed gift drive for Christmastime.
Project Boxed Smile is Denpubs' contribution to Families First's adopt-a-child program for Christmastime. Denpubs employees are already volunteering to assemble shoeboxes with toys, personal items, and school supplies to go to children served by Families First.
