Two men arrested on attempted robbery charges

WARRENSBURG - Two Warrensburg men were arrested on felony robbery charges Nov. 23 following an altercation with two other men the day before, police said.

Joseph Shortsleeves, 25, and 22-year-old Kyle Hayward - both of 3446 Main St. - were charged with the felony second-degree Attempted Robbery. Police said Shortsleeves and Hayward had engaged two male acquaintances in a fight at a time that they demanded wallets and other property from them. The incident occurred in the area of Summit St. and South Ave. in Warrensburg.

Nothing was stolen from the two men, and no injuries were reported. Shortsleeves and Hayward were taken into custody at their residence without incident during the early morning hours of Nov. 23, police said.

Shortsleeves and Hayward were arraigned in Warrensburg Town Court, and both are scheduled to return at a later date.

The case is being investigated by Patrol Officer Jeremy Coon and Investigator Mo Aldrich, and an investigation is ongoing.
