This year's annual Vergennes Holiday Stroll event promises to be fun and profitable. Come spend the day downtown-shop, eat, sing and play. Here's a complete schedule to help you plan your fun day in Vergennes.
7:30-10 a.m.: Breakfast with Santa at VUHS Cafeteria - adults $6, under age 10 is $4, under age 3 free; 759-2922.
Come and eat breakfast with Santa and make a craft in his workshop! Sponsored by students and Friends of Music .
9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.: Annual Winter Holiday Craft Fair at Vergennes Elementary School; admission: canned goods for the local food shelf.
9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.: Visit shops and play "Spot the Candy Cane" to win a candy cane gift.
10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Bixby Library Open House and annual Silent Auction of Holiday Baskets donated by local businesses and patrons (bidding ends at 1:45 - winning bids announced at 2 p.m.) bring donations to hang on the "Mitten and Sock" tree!
10:30 a.m.: Ring in the Holiday Stroll by joining Santa and his elves strolling from the Vergennes Opera House to the Bixby Library-bring bells to ring & a voice to sing. Bring an ornament you made to hang on the Children's Holiday Tree; we will decorate it on our Stroll, then the tree will be displayed at Jackman Fuels.
10:45: Santa Claus reads "Twas the Night Before Christmas" at the Bixby Library
11 a.m.-noon: Jon Gailmor, singer/songwriter at Bixby Library - due to limited space, free tickets required - call 877-2211.
12:30 p.m. Bixby Library-refreshments.
1-1:30 p.m.: Bixby Library-Maiden Vermont, an a cappella group.
1-2 p.m.: Reminiscing with Father Time - St. Paul's Episcopal Church Parish Hall (Ramp Accessible). Listen or share memories, photos, objects, etc. of Christmases past (conversation style).
2-4:30 p.m.: Visit a Winter Wonderland in the Vergennes Opera House (a community effort).
