It's more than just an award

HINESBURG - The unsung heroes of Chittenden South are recognized each year by Connecting Youth, the community service organization of Champlain Valley Union High School students. Individuals and organizations who have made a valuable contribution to the people of the community, in a quiet, behind-the-scenes way, are nominated for the awards and typically accept the honors with the "Aw Shucks" attitude that has characterized their role in their communities.

Among the recipients of Aw Shucks awards at the presentation ceremony at CVU on Tuesday, Nov. 18, was the Shelburne Charlotte Hinesburg Interfaith Projects organization which has made grants of more than $132,000 to benefit the people of Shelburne, Charlotte and Hinesburg, helping the needy and building community.
