Senior farmers market nutrition program

The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program provides nutrition benefits to low income senior citizens and promotes the purchase of local fresh fruits and vegetables at farmers markets throughout Clinton County. These coupons are still available for senior households at Clinton County Office for the Aging, 135 Margaret St. Recipients must be 60 years of age or older and are required to sign a statement of eligibility based upon the following criteria: Gross monthly income must be at or below $1,604/month for a one person household; $2,159/month for a two-person household; or $2,714/month for a three person household. OR Recipient is currently receiving or eligible to receive SSI, food stamps, public assistance or a Section 8 housing subsidy. Only one coupon book per household; you are not eligible if you received 2008 Farmers Market checks from another location. The booklets contain $20 in coupons and a complete list of Farmers Markets in the Northern Region of New York State where they are accepted. The 2007 coupons have expired and will not be useable for the 2008 season. Local produce is available at: Plattsburgh Farmers & Crafters market, Durkee and Broad streets, Plattsburgh City parking lot. Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Open until Oct. 11. The Plattsburgh Farmers Green Market, Plattsburgh Church of the Nazarene, 187 Broad St. Thursdays from 2-6 p.m. Open until Oct. 16.
