Woodmen award scholarships to teens

CHAZY Two students from the Northern Tier have been awarded academic scholarships from Woodmen of the World Lodge 462. Sarah Winters of Northeastern Clinton Central School and Jaclyn Brunell of Northern Adirondack Central School were selected based on their Woodmen membership and submitted essay. Each received a $100 award that may be applied toward tuition, room or board, textbooks or other expenses. We are delighted to name Sarah Winters and Jaclyn Brunell as our annual scholarship recipients, said lodge president Linda Gonyo-Horne. Members of the Woodmen of the World Lodge 462 selection committee included Todd Castine, Tim Gonyo, Amy House and Dale Anne Wolter. In addition to providing scholarships for high school seniors, the lodge also presents American Patriot Handbooks to elementary-aged children, history awards to high school students, and U.S. flags and flag poles to schools, churches, parks and other non-profit agencies.
