LAKE PLACID A workshop featuring training and hands-on experience in making maple confections mainly molded maple sugar, crystal coating, maple cream and maple sugar will be held Saturday, Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. to 4p.m. at the Uihlein Forest. Each participating maple farm will receive a New York State Maple Confections notebook, appropriate tools for measuring invert sugars, and a digital thermometer. These tools alone are valued well above the registration fee. Registration fee $60 per Farm / Business which includes syrup testing tools, materials, lunch, and confections notebook, a second attendee from a registered farm may attend for a $10 registration fee to cover the cost of lunch.
