Theater workshop, production for local youth

RUTLAND Students in grades K-2 will work on an adaptation of Laura Krauss Melmed's magical book The Rain Babies and will design props, costumes and make-up. Rehearsals will take place to prepare for a studio performances for family and friends on the last day of class. Sept. 8- Oct. 22, Monday and Wednesday from 4-5:30 p.m., at the Dana Recreation Center. Fee is $85 resident and $95 non-resident. The Rutland Youth Theatre has been chosen this year to participate in the Page to Stage Workshops with the Weston Playhouse Theatre Company. Students will study and prepare scenes from Shakespeare's As You Like It and have a rare opportunity to learn from visiting teaching artists, travel to Weston to peform scenes, receive feedback from professional actors and attend a professional performance. For students in grades 7-12 through Sept. 16. Tuesdays and Fridays 4-5:30 p.m. and Sundays 2-4 p.m. Fee $85 resident, $95 non-resident.
