Tavern to help Middlebury Fire Dept.

MIDDLEBURY Two Brothers Tavern in downtown Middlebury will donate 10 percent of its proceeds on Monday, September 1 to the Middlebury Fire Department. The donation will go toward the expenses of the department, which has been serving the needs of Middlebury and East Middlebury since 1892. These volunteers respond to roughly 160 to 190 calls a year, ranging from house fires, brush fires, car accidents, rope rescues, and hazardous material incidents to clearing flooded basements and assisting clean-up after storms and floods. The fundraiser is part of Two Brothers on-going Charitable Monday program, which was begun in November 2006. The first Monday of every month Two Brothers donates 10 percent of its proceeds to a designated charity or non-profit organization. Former beneficiaries include The United Way, Porter Hospital and Friends of Middlebury Hockey in August earning $499.54 toward the completion of the Middlebury Memorial Sports Center. It is our hope that people will dine with us on Sept. 1, Labor Day, to help us support our friends at the fire department, said Holmes Jacobs, proprietor of Two Brothers Tavern. If you would like to make a donation to the event, or have your organization considered for a Charitable Monday, please visit Two Brothers Tavern at 86 Main St.
