Dinosaurs are focus of new CCV class

BURLINGTON This fall, the Community College of Vermont in Burlington is offering a new online course, titled Dinosaurs. In this course, students will be introduced to the study of dinosaurs during the Mesozoic era. The course will be held entirely online, offering students scheduling flexibility and savings on commuting costs. The course is open to degree-seeking students or life-long learners alike. Registration is currently under way. Taught by Lucy Schumer, the course will cover topics such as the major classifications of dinosaurs; dinosaur habitats and social behavior; current theories on dinosaur extinction; and careers in the field of paleontology. Students enrolled in the course will have the opportunity to take part in a field trip to the Natural History Museum in New York, with buses leaving from three different CCV sites. The museum has the largest collection of dinosaur fossils in the world. The Colleges open admissions policy welcomes students of all ages and backgrounds, creating a vibrant learning environment for degree-seeking students and life-long learners alike.
