Cinderfella to raise awareness of HPV

SOUTH BURLINGTON Need a man or a little man power? At Cinderfella, youll be able to bid on men who have stepped up to auction off their time and talents to help eradicate cervical cancer. Although cervical cancer is a disease that strikes only women, HPV, the virus that is the predominant cause of cervical cancer, affects both men and women, explained Anna Rosenblum-Palmer, executive director of the Hicks Foundation. With that in mind, we thought that men would leap at the chance to be part of the solution, and they have, she noted. On Sept. 17, from 6-10 p.m. at Higher Ground Showcase Lounge in South Burlington, youll have the opportunity to win anything from professional art lessons to having your lawn mowed by a Sigma Phi guy to a meal cooked by a world-renowned chef and everything else in-between. Tickets cost $8 in advance and can be purchased online at www.highergroundmusic.com, or they will be $10 at the door (includes food, but theres a cash bar). In addition, there will be a raffle with prizes that include such items as a two-night stay at Three Stallion Inn; private pilates sessions from Core Studio; and a Burton snowboard, boots and bindings with an Isis jacket. Raffle tickets cost $5/1 ticket or $20/5 tickets and can be purchased at apalmer@freepap.org. You do not need to be present to win. This isn't just a women's event, so we encourage anyone and everyone to bid, Rosenblum-Palmer said. All proceeds from Cinderfella will benefit the Hicks Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is the eradication of cervical cancer in the state of Vermont. For more information about Cinderfella see the website at www.freepap.org or call 802-238-0052.
