Hague crash claims life

HAGUE A motorcyclist died after colliding with a sport utility vehicle in Hague Aug. 16. Adam Nieckarz, 22, was westbound on a winding and hilly section of state Route 8 near state Route 9N when the crash occurred at about 3:52 p.m., according to state police. Nieckarz's 2004 Suzuki sport bike collided with a 2007 Cadillac Escalade driven by Richard Norris, of Plumsted, N.J., police said. Nieckarz was treated at the scene by Hague EMS and transported to Moses Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga, police said. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said. A second motorcyclist, Sirell Fiel, 23, of Buskirk, crashed his 2004 Suzuki sport bike in the eastbound lane, but did not appear to come into contact with the other two vehicles, police said. Fiel suffered minor scrapes and was treated and released from the hospital, police said. Fiel and Nieckarz were riding close to one another at the front of the 22-motorcyclist pack at the time of the accident. No tickets were issued and it did not appear Nieckarz or Fiel had been drinking, police said. The driver of the Cadillac, Norris, passed a blood-alcohol test, police said.
