Area Methodist Churches in joint service

RIVERSIDE On Sunday, Aug. 17 members of the North Creek, North River and Johnsburg United Methodist Churches joined with summer worshippers at the Riverside Methodist Campground in a joint service at its Tabernacle. The Rev. Steve Clunn, pastor of the First Methodist Church, Schenectady, was the preacher of the day. A combined choir from the participating churches provided music. More than 100 worshippers attended. The worship service was followed by a picnic lunch at the campground. The service was an occasion to welcome the Rev. Jackie Mueller, newly assigned pastor of the Johnsburg UMC church, and a farewell for the Rev. Diane Marquit, who leaves the North Creek United Methodist Church to become pastor of the Castleton, NY UMC. The historic Riverside Epworth League campground is in the hamlet of Riparius. It has been a summer gathering place for New York Methodists for more than 125 years. Summer Sunday services are still held in its Tabernacle in a pine grove on the banks of the Hudson, from the 4th of July to Labor Day.
