New store for teachers, parents, homeschoolers

MIDDLEBURY The Shop at Portals the regions only learning-tools store created specifically for teachers, parents, and home schoolers held its grand opening last weekend at Portals to Learning, 45 Court St. (Route 7), in Middlebury. The shop services Chittenden, Addison and Rutland counties. The Shop at Portals displays nationally recognized and award-winning educational games and teaching materials complementing Portals' on-line store, The Shop at Portals is a catalog showroom, providing teachers and parents with the opportunity to handle and examine teaching materials before ordering and placing orders for free-shipping delivery. Some items are available for on-site purchase. The shop will be open by appointment, by calling 802-388-2212, or by e-mailing shoptime@portalstolearning.com. Beginning in September, the Shop at Portals will be open several times a week; hours to be announced. Portals to Learning opened its doors in 2000 as a learning center to provide individualized private instruction to students grades K12 in reading, writing, mathematics, and study skills. Founded by Marilyn Varricchio, M.Ed., Portals to Learning is located at 45 Court St., across from the Village Court shopping center (Aubuchon Hardware, the UPS Store, Subway, and Kinney Drugs), in downtown Middlebury.
