Changes are happening at Champlain Centre

PLATTSBURGH Champlain Centre mall is undergoing several changes, both inside and outside the Smithfield Boulevard property. The most notable change to the mall is the significant progress in the construction of the long-awaited Target store. With a scheduled opening date of Oct. 12, the approximately 127,000-square foot Target has added new retail space to the malls previous footprint. The mall is reconstructing its entrance next to Best Buy and adding a new covered walk-way to the food court entrance as part of the overall project. Inside the mall, Target store leader Jason Baril and his team have set-up shop across from the food court where they are accepting applications for the more than 150 positions to be filled. Other new stores to the mall include Hollister, which is being constructed across from Maurices and next to Journeys. Hollister offers hip, casual clothing for young adults that reflect a trendy California style. The store is scheduled to be open in time for the holiday shopping season. Motherhood Maternity in another new store that has come to the centre and opened next to Old Navy. The store offers a large selection of maternity fashions. Existing stores which have moved within the mall include Deb Shop, which has moved into a brand-new store next to New York & Company. The new store is about 1,000-square-feet larger than their previous store. The Shoe Department has moved from their old location into a brand new and expanded store across from Borders. Auntie Annes has moved into a brand new store at a new location that is across from CJ Banks and next to Maurices. Also, Ritz Camera, has moved into a new location near the food court and next to FYE. The changes at the centre have energized both shoppers and tenants. With all the construction activity, its an exciting time for the mall, Champlain Centre general manager Dave Napolitan said in a recent press release. We have a great mix of tenants to offer our shoppers and expect our traffic to continue to grow. We anticipate a very busy Black Friday and a strong holiday season.
